We are pleased to introduce our new Upper School Math and Science teacher, Mr. Wes Wells! He comes to us in his retirement from Institute for Excellence in Innovation where he was the CEO, Chief Innovation Officer, and Chief AI Officer. He also taught physics with Wisdom Builders. He and his wife attend Bethel Lutheran Church in Noblesville Indiana.
We caught up with Mr. Wells in order to help the community learn more about him. We hope you enjoy getting to know him a bit better though his answers.
1) Are you married? Kids?
Married to Kristen for 36 years. We have 2 grown sons, a daughter-in-law and a grandson.
2) Where did you go to school?
I received a BS in Physics and a BS in Industrial Engineering – University of Illinois.
3) What is your favorite snack or treat?
Bananas
4) What gets you up in the morning?
Cooking breakfast with/for my family.
5) What are your favorite hobbies?
Camping, Kayaking, Disc Golf, Mowing (let’s me legitimize listening to audio books), anything that requires me to get out one of my tractors.
6) What is your favorite book and why?
50 Most Important Bible Questions (Michael Rydelnik), Tactics (Gregory Koukl), Secrets of Dynamic Communication (Ken Davis). #1 is thorough and has answered most of my questions, #2 is a great way to learn HOW to evangelize, #3 is one of the most practical ways to develop a speech, sermon, or even a book.
7) How long have you lived in Indiana and why do you enjoy living here?
We have lived in Indiana for over 30 years. We moved from Illinois and the culture here in Indiana fits us SO much better.
8) Describe a meaningful event in your life and God’s role in that event.
When our sons were born. Through raising children, if you let Him, God shapes you into a much better person.
9) What historical figure would you like to spend a day with?
I would like to hear from Paul the details around the years after the “scales” came off. I would also like to spend the day with my Grandpa when he was young because I heard that he used to walk into town from the country singing hymns and I would like to hear about his faith journey. Finally, I would like to spend time with my sister before her diagnosis and death to “just talk”.
10) What would we be surprised to learn about you?
My passion and gift is leading Innovation both in large corporations and in faith based organizations.
