New Faculty Interview: Joyce Vickery

We are so excited to announce that Mrs. Joyce Vickery has joined our faculty as our K/1 Music Teacher! She is a Music Teacher at heart…first at The Master’s Study now CDA!  She and her family attend Faith Church Indy.

With a new music teacher joining the team, we are excited to announce the launch of a band/instrumental program for 5th and 6th grade music, led by Mr. Perry, and a new option for either Band or Choir in Upper School! The full listing of faculty and staff roles for the 2025-2026 school year can be found on the faculty and staff page of our website.

We caught up with Mrs. Vickery in order to help the community learn more about her.  We hope you enjoy getting to know her a bit better though her answers.

1) Are you married? Kids?

Yes, with 8 kids!

2) Where did you go to school?

Indiana University

3) What is your favorite snack or treat?

Chex Mix or Sourdough Toast

4) What gets you up in the morning?

A warm drink

5) What are your favorite hobbies?

Many musical hobbies, as well as reading and hiking and building projects

6) What is your favorite book and why?

That’s a hard one… other than the Bible, maybe the James Herriot Series or the Little Britches series

7) How long have you lived in Indiana and why do you enjoy living here?

We have been here 10 years as a family, and I enjoy experience all 4 seasons. (I’m from the South which is perpetually spring/summer!)

8) Describe a meaningful event in your life and God’s role in that event.

Recently, God provided a gift of being able to record a special song with my husband in the studio and share it with some dear friends and family! God provided in so many ways for that little moment to happen!

9) What historical figure would you like to spend a day with?

Francis Havergal or Fanny Crosby

10) What would we be surprised to learn about you?

That I’m from Mississippi yet have no accent. 🙂
