New Faculty Interview: Frank Vergara

We are so excited to announce that Mr. Frank Vergara has joined our faculty as a our Athletic Director and Physical Education Teacher! You might recognize the name as his wife is our Cross Country coach! He is retired from the US Army – Thank you for your service Mr. Vergara! He and his family attend College Park church.

We caught up with Mr. Vergara in order to help the community learn more about him. We hope you enjoy getting to know him a bit better though his answers.

1) Are you married? Kids?

Married with one daughter

2) Where did you go to school?

IUPUI

3) What is your favorite snack or treat?

Butterfingers

4) What gets you up in the morning?

My responsibilities…otherwise I would stay in bed.

5) What are your favorite hobbies?

Outdoor activities and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

6) What is your favorite book and why?

Mansfield’s Book of Manly Men by Steven Mansfield. It is an engaging book that uses biblical and historical figures who showcase timeless masculine virtues to call men to authentic manhood.

7) How long have you lived in Indiana and why do you enjoy living here?

Over 25 years. Simple…Hoosier Hospitality

8) Describe a meaningful event in your life and God’s role in that event.

At the age of 35, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colorectal Cancer. It was a time of total dependance on God. He used it to strengthen my faith. While that time was filled with pain and many shed tears ultimately resulting in remission of the cancer, I thank God for allowing me to go through it.

9) What historical figure would you like to spend a day with?

Jonathan, son of King Saul. He was a fierce warrior and a loyal friend.

10) What would we be surprised to learn about you?

Even though most of my time in the Army was spent as a paratrooper, I actually have a very healthy fear of heights.
