New Faculty Interview: Christina Gibson

We are so excited to announce that Ms. Christina Gibson has joined our faculty as a 2nd grade teacher! For the past several years, she had the joy of being a full-time homeschool mom—teaching, learning, and growing alongside her children. She says, “That season was a true gift, and I’m deeply grateful for the time we shared together.” Before that, she worked as an elementary school teacher, literacy interventionist, and instructional coach.  Christina and her family attend Grace PCA.

We caught up with Ms. Gibson in order to help the community learn more about her.  We hope you enjoy getting to know her a bit better though her answers. When you see her, please welcome her to CDA!

1) Do you have kids?

I have three wonderful children! Lilah is 12—she’s friendly, kind, and would read all day if she could. She loves crocheting, foxes, and playing the violin. Redford is 10 and bursting with creativity. He loves drawing, making comic books, and playing the trumpet. He has a gift for making friends wherever he goes—he’s curious, funny, and always ready with a clever joke. Lucy is 7—she’s sweet, silly, and full of energy. She loves unicorns, being outside, and anything creative. Drawing, painting, singing, and playing the piano are a few of her favorite things.

2) Where did you go to school?

Hope College

3) What is your favorite snack or treat?

Dark chocolate, dried mango, and a really good cup of coffee!

4) What gets you up in the morning?

Loving my children well, serving with purpose, and the promise of a hot cup of coffee.

5) What are your favorite hobbies?

I enjoy reading, running, and musical theater. I especially love exploring unique cuisines and trying new restaurants.

6) What is your favorite book and why?

I’m not sure I could choose just one favorite book! I love stories that stay with you long after you’ve finished the last page.

7) How long have you lived in Indiana and why do you enjoy living here?

We have lived in Indiana since 2014. I love the sense of community, the changing seasons, and all the family-friendly opportunities it offers.

8) Describe a meaningful event in your life and God’s role in that event.

Being a mother has reshaped my heart in ways I never expected. It has deepened my understanding of God’s love, His patience, and His grace, and has drawn me into a deeper dependence on His strength. Through the the joys and the challenges, I’ve learned to rely on Him more fully and to see each moment as part of His sanctifying work in me. Through bedtime stories, scraped knees, unexpected tears, and everyday joys, I’ve come to know the heart of the Father in new and tender ways.

9) What historical figure would you like to spend a day with?

Elisabeth Elliot. Her strength, wisdom, and unwavering trust in God has profoundly shaped my faith. I would love the chance to sit with her, ask questions, and learn from her quiet confidence in God’s goodness and sovereignty.

10) What would we be surprised to learn about you?

I have a degree in music performance for classical trumpet—and I can still hit a pretty clean high C when I dust it off!
