New Faculty Interview: Aaron Delph

Mr. Aaron Delph has joined the faculty at Coram Deo Academy as an Upper School instructor teaching 8th grade Omnibus (Integrated Bible, Literature, and History), Algebra 1 and 6th grade Science. Aaron Delph received his BA from Purdue University double majoring in Philosophy and Religious Studies. He will graduate with an MDiv from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in December. He has worked as a Pharmacy Technician and recently as a Pastoral Assistant at Castleview Church. He and his wife Becky are Core Team members of The Fields Church, a church plant in Westfield.

We caught up with Aaron in an interview format, so our community could learn more about him.

1. Please tell us about yourself!  Are you married?  Have any children?  Have any pets? Where are you from?  What college did you attend?

I have been married to my wife Becky for almost 3 years, we just moved to Carmel and are excited to get to know the area better.  I am from Pendleton, IN and went to Purdue for college.

2.What influenced you to become a teacher?

The opportunity to make and mature young disciples is what attracted me to pursue teaching as a career.  I want to help young people learn the truth of God’s word and learn about the world God created and how they are meant to live and thrive

3. What is one of your hidden talents?

I am able to identify most bird species in Indiana!

4. What is your favorite book and why?

I have a very soft spot for the Harry Potter series, they tell a wonderfully connected story of good triumphing over evil and the connections to the Gospel are many and easy to make.

5. What are your hobbies?

I have many hobbies including fishing, birdwatching, hiking, golf, reading, watching open Formula 1 and IndyCar racing, Purdue Football and Basketball, going out to eat with my wife, and of course learning about all sorts of topics.

6. Is there a quote or saying that you live your life by?

Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

7. Who has inspired you in your life?

John Piper, Mark Dever, and D.A. Carson have all been very influential in my spiritual and theological growth, especially since my early college years.  I am inspired by the faithful men I have had the opportunity to serve under and alongside these past few years at Castleview, especially pastors Nathan Lugbill, Gus Pritchard, and Kelly Wright.  My wife also encourages and uplifts me every day.

8. What gets you up in the morning?

Though my heart rarely rises to this ideal, the opportunity the Lord has given me to serve him in whatever way he has chosen for that particular day.  The prospect of fresh coffee does not hurt either!

9. What historical figure would you like to spend a day with?

Charles Spurgeon
